Macbeth: The Musical

Macbeth: The Musical followed the classic Macbeth story through rewritten pop songs. The song choices really worked with the plot and were funny; enhanced by the incredible singing. However, the humour was too tongue in cheek with the actors being too knowing which cut down the joke and ended up making the show less funny than it could have been.

Some of the pop songs worked extremely well such as ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ but sometimes I was left feeling that I just wished the original song had been used rather than being rewritten.

Overall, by changing the tone and making stronger musical choices for a few of the songs this show may have potential but it didn’t work quite as well as I felt it could have this time.
